Kickstarter: Reeljuice Is An All-In-One Portable Battery

Our cell phones have become integral parts of our daily lives. These tiny pocket computers can do almost anything, and we rely on them for more than just communication. Keeping that tiny computer running requires power, and battery life doesn’t always come with the ever-slimmer designs we’re seeing these days. There are all sorts of portable batteries, battery cases, and more available (we’ve reviewed quite a few of them), but Reeljuice is looking to make the entire mobile recharging process easier with an all-in-one portable battery that keeps everything necessary to charge your device in one convenient package.

Lynktec is a Chicago-based company working on their second Kickstarter project, and Reeljuice is definitely an interesting concept. This portable battery has an extendable/retractable cable that attaches to your phone or tablet, and an attachable rapid charger to refill the 5,000 mAh or 10,000 mAh Reeljuice batteries.

The entire unit is very compact, and nicely designed. Take a look at some of the features:

The industrial strength retractable cable system was designed in conjunction with PDT and Telefonix, companies who boast over 80% of aircraft in-flight phones and entertainment controllers. The cord itself is designed to handle tens of thousands of cycles and really does set the Reeljuice apart from other portable batteries where additional cables and whatnot are necessary. On the other hand, even industrial cables can break. I’d be interested to know about Lynktec’s warranty or replacement policies in these instances. The rapid charger is another nice touch – since it integrates directly into the Reeljuice unit, that leaves one less thing to carry around.

You can see the Reeljuice promo video below:

Reeljuice has currently raised just over $23,000 of their $78,000 goal with 33 days left to raise funds.  There are still a few spots left in the early-bird tiers for both the Reeljuice 5 (5000 mAh, $59) and Reeljuice 10 (10,000 mAh, $89), so hurry on over if you want to get a Reeljuice for $30 under the expected retail price.  If the early birds are gone, there is still an Early Adopter tier for $10 more.

  1. This battery looks great! I hope it get’s funded so I can replace my mycharge . . . I am always loosing the cord for that thing! Plus, I use the Lynktec TruGlide Pro stylus and it rocks! :p

  2. I also think this battery looks awesome!  It seems like a much more refined and sophisticated charger than anything else currently available.  It really looks like an integrated, streamlined product as opposed to various components cobbled together (cord, battery, plug, etc).  When I saw that Lynktec won a CES award for the product, i decided to back their kickstarter campaign
