Like speakers, headphones and earbuds come in a range of prices and quality. While most earbuds will do the trick, some offer something a bit more specialized. Our JBL Reflect Mini review takes a look at one such pair that offer secure ergonomic ear tips for use during sports activities for a more secure fit.

The Reflect Mini headphones feature pretty much the same basic design as most other earbuds out there. As JBL is targeting the sport marketing with these, there are a few sport specific design features that are sure to please fitness users. For starters, the cord is brightly-reflective for use during the night. In addition to your standard small and medium ear tips, JBL also includes small and medium Freebit™ ergonomic ear tips. These ear tips have an addition “horn” on them which provide a more secure fit when used during intense workouts. Simply place the earbuds with the ergonomic ear tips in your ear as you would normal ear tips and then twist forward a bit to nestle the horn into your ear. Trust me, these Freebit™ ear tips are not coming out when used.
In addition, the JBL Reflect Mini headphones are sweat proof, include a built-in remote control with microphone for use during phone calls, and also feature a slider to adjust the length of the left and right earbud cords to minimize movement during physical activities. The 3.5mm jack is also angled near the top, which I found a bit odd, but after extended use it actually makes sense design wise as you can angle the direction the cord starts off in better depending on how you are wearing them.
The remote-control offers basic functionality. A single press will toggle playing or pausing of your current track, while a quick double press will skip ahead to the next song.
These headphone are well constructed, and although they feel a bit weird the first time you use the Freebit™ ear tips, they are also very comfortable.
Available in black, blue, green, red, and teal, you’re sure to find a pair that will suit your style.
The packaging for the JBL Reflect Mini headphones claims that they “feature legendary JBL sound,” and they didn’t disappoint. The range of sound from the highs through the mids and the bass is fantastic. Everything from rock to rap and EDM sounds great, and outside sounds are all but eliminated allowing you distraction free listening and working out. These are definitely some of the best sounding earbuds that I have used, and are on par – if not better sound – with some of the more expensive ones I’ve tested in the past.
The remote also includes a microphone and phone call control functionality. When you get an incoming call, press the button on the remote once to answer. Pressing the button while in the call When you are done with the call, simply long press the button again to end the call. When in use, there was no issues conduction a conversation as both the sending party could be heard with no issues through the earbuds and there were no complaints that the other party could hear your responses through the microphone.
At only $59.99USD, the JBL Reflect Mini headphones are a steal. With the great sound and comfortable, secure fit, these headphones sound better than some more expensive ones.
If you’re looking for a new pair of in-ear headphones, you can’t go wrong with the JBL Reflect Mini headphones. Lightweight, comfortable, great sounding, and with both regular and the Freebit™ ergonomic tips, these earbuds should be good in almost any situation you use them in.
