@Evleaks Says Samsung Will Announce The Galaxy S7 On Feb. 21, 2016

Evan Blass, who goes by @evleaks online, has tweeted Samsung will release the Galaxy S7 on Feb. 21, 2016. We have the tweet in all its glory below.

The attached images appear to be screenshots of the promotional videos Samsung releases when a new phone is on the way. The images tie in with Samsung’s “Unpacked” motif, with a box shown. One side of the box appears to be opening up, with the lighting highlighting a 7, which hints at the device we can expect to see, in this case, the Galaxy S7.

The date is just one day before Mobile World Conference is scheduled to start in Barcelona, which starts on Feb. 22, and runs through Feb. 25. This is obviously not a coincidence and perhaps Samsung wants to get its device out there first and get the buzz going.

We’re keeping a close eye on Samsung Mobile’s official YouTube channel for the official video to be released. You can check out the rest of Samsung’s Unpacked videos here.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is rumoured to feature a 5.1 inches screen with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. It’ll purportedly be powered by Samsung’s Exynos Octa Core 8890 processor with 4 GB of RAM. The device will have Samsung’s standard set of sensors and scanners including the latest version of its fingerprint scanner. The phone might also be equipped with a USB Type C port, though Samsung might opt to stick to the micro USB port for now. Samsung’s phones have always had great cameras and this time around will probably be no different. The rear facing camera is expected to be a 12 megapixel camera and the front facing camera may be a 5 megapixel model.
